An Error Analysis of Subject Verb Agreement in Writing by Second Semester English Department NHU Medan.
Abstract
This thesis is a study about an error analysis of subject-verb agreement in writing by second semester English Department NHU Medan. The objective of the study is to analyze the types of common of errors made by the students in second semes- ter English Department NHU Medan in subject-verb agreement in writing narra- tive text. This study used descriptive qualitative. The subject of this study are 10 students in second semester English Department NHU Medan, group c. The ob- ject of this research is the students’ error in writing narrative text. The instrument of collecting data used writing narrative text test. The data were analyzed by clas- sifying the types of errors made by the students from the students’ paper, after that analyzing the common types of error made by the students. Finally, the research result showed that there are 89 errors made by the group c second semester stu- dents in writing narrative text. The number of omission error are 48 and the per- centage is 53,93%, followed by addition error are 24 and the percentage is 6,97%, the third is misformation error which has 11 with the percentage is 12,36%, and the last is error of misordering are 6 with the percentage is 6,74%.
