AN ANALYSIS OF USING CODE MIXING ON CATATAN NAZWA’S VIDEO IN YOU TUBE CHANNEL
Abstract
Sociolinguistics is study about the connection among language and society. Every people have different language style when they interact to each other. By many variations which they have, it can be possible for them to mix their language in their utterance. Mixing one language with the other languages, in sociolinguistics field it called by code mixing. The use of code mixing in society it has been common. It happens in the one of the phenomenon and famous Presenter in Indonesia is Nazwa Shihab. Therefore, this research focuses on code mixing that emerges on Catatan Nazwa’s video in You Tube channel. The objective of this research was to find out the types of code mixing that appear on Catatan Nazwa ’s video YouTube channel. This study used descriptive qualitative research to analyze the data. The source of data was the utterance of Nazwa Shihab and Maudy Ayunda published on March 22, 2019, the instrument of collecting data were observed and documentary and technique collecting data by the followed steps: watch the video from the You Tube, listen to the audio for typed the transcript data which contain the types of code mixing in Nazwa Shihab and Maudy Ayunda. This study employed content analysis which focused on analyzing the types of code mixing which defined by Muysken’s theory (2000), namely: Insertion, Alternation and Congruent Lexicalization. The result after analyzing the video, there were twenty nine data in the types of code mixing. The researcher found 29 data, there were 14 insertion, 10 alternation and 5 congruent lexicalization. In the types of code mixing, the highest type was insertion of code mixing and the lowest type was congruent lexicalization.
