THE EFFECT OF USING HANGMAN GAME ON STUDENTS VOCABULARY MASTERY THEELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OFSENIOR HIGH SCHOOL
Abstract
This thesis is about The Effect of Using Hangman Game on Students Vocabulary Mastery. The objective of the study is to find out whether or not Hangman Game affect on students achievement in vocabulary. This study was conducted by applying experimental quantitative research. The subject of the study was the second year students of Senior High School. The writer took XI IS 1 which consists of 10 students as experimental class with used Hangman Game and XI MIA 2 which consists 10 students as control group without Hangman Game. The population of this research was 20 students which consists of two parallel classes. The writer took both class as total sampling to see The Effect of Using Hangman Game in teaching vocabulary. The data were taken by giving vocabulary test which consists of multiple choice, gap fill, matching, and C-test. The test was divided into two tests: pre-test and post-test for both experimental and control group. The mean score of pre-test in experimental class is 69.5 and the post-test is 84. The mean score of pre-test in control group is 66.5 and the post-test is 77.25. It is concluded that the mean score of experimental group is higher than control group. The result that t-calculated > t-table at the level of significance p = 0.05 (2.017> 1.68). The alternative hypotesis (Ha) is accepted and null hypotesis (Ho) is rejected.
It means that Hangman Game can be used as teaching technique alternative to enrich students’ vocabulary mastery at the second year students of Senior High School.
