An Analysis Of English Loan Words In Kick Andy Talk Show

Abstract

Borrowing words is taking or adopting of word from other language especially in English words. This studypurposed to identify the types of loan found in Kick Andy talk show. In this study,the researcher analyzedtypes of English loan and the most dominant type of English loan found in Kick Andy talk show, based on the theory of Hockett in Hoffer (2005), namely: loan word, loan shift, loan blend and loan translation. This study used descriptive qualitative research to analyze the data. The source of data was the recorded of Kick Andy talk show on 08th March 2019,the instrument of collecting data were observed and documentary and technique collecting data by the followed steps: watch the video from the You Tube, listen to the audio for transcribing data and take a note to the utterances which contain the types of loan found in Kick Andy talk show. The researcher found 100 data that involved in Loan word (13%), Loan blend (54%), Loan shift (32%), Loan translation (1%). From the result, the researcher concluded that Loan blend is the most dominant type of English loan found in Kick Andy talk show.
