An error analysis of Preposition and Conjunction Usage in Writing Procedure by The Fourth Semester Student
Abstract
This research is attempts to discuss about students’ error analysis on using prepositions and conjunctions in writing procedure text by the fourth semester students of HKBP Nommensen University Medan. The objective of this study to find out the types of error and the dominant of error was made by the students on using prepositions and conjunctions in writing procedure text. The subject of the study was the fourth semester students of HKBP Nommensen University Medan. The study used descriptive qualitative research and the theory was taken from James (2001) . The result of the study showed there were three types of error on using prepositions and conjunctions in writing procedure text, namely; Error of Ommision, Error of Addition and Error of Selection. The dominant error was error of addition with 10 errors, in the second place was error of selection with 9 errors, and the third place waas error of ommision with 4 errors. From the data analysis, the most dominant error that found in the students’ writing procedure text was Error of Addition. This thesis was suggested for the students and also lecturers as source of valuable knowledge and information of students’ error on using prepositions and conjunctions in writing procedure text.
