    Abstract
    The ocjective of this study is to know the difficulties on writing narrative text of eight grade students at SMP Swasta Betania Medan. Narrative text is written based on five aspect of writing Weigle’s field theory namely content, Organization, vocabulary, language use, and mechanics. In this study uses descriptive qualitative as the research resign. The place of doing this study is SMP Swasta Betania Medan. The participants in this study are class VIII consist of 26 students. The result of the data there are 5 students have difficulties about content in writing narrative text, 8 students get difficultive about organization, 16 students have difficulties about vocabulary, 14 students difficulties about language use. The last difficulties about mechanics are found by 3 students. English Departement Students are suggested to practice more in writing the texts. The benefits of the results of this study on teachers, they also have to learn more about grammar or sentence structure in writing. English teachers and lectures also need more information tu better understand and understand student difficulties.
