An Analysis of English Teacher’s Pedagogic Competence in Teaching Young Learners At The Second Grade Of SMP Mardi Lestari Medan”.
Abstract
This thesis is a study about an analysis of English Teacher’s Pedagogic Competence in Teaching Young Learners at the Second Grade of SMP Mardi Lestari Medan. The Objectives of this study is to know the implementation of pedagogic competence. This research used the descriptive qualitative research as the research design. The subject of this research was the second grade of SMP Mardi Lestari Medan which consisted of 23 students and an English Teacher at the second grade of SMP Mardi Lestari Medan. The researcher took 1 teacher as the subject of this study. There were three kinds of instruments in this research; they were observation, interview, and questionnaire. The data of this research is the utterance of English teacher and perception of students about English teacher. The findings of this research showed that the score of students’ perception on teacher’s pedagogic competence in teaching English were 45 including medium category. In addition, the teacher’s pedagogic competence was very good in teaching English at the second grade students of SMP Mardi Lestari Medan. Based on the results of this research, the researcher suggested to the teacher that they should try to improve their strategy and competence when teaching in the class. In addition, they also should use some interest method so that the students can be more interested in learning English.
