Error Analysis in Writing Analytical Exposition Text Made by Students at SMK Swasta Jambi Medan
Abstract
This study attempted to identify error analysis in writing analytical exposition text made by students at SMK Swasta Jambi Medan. The objectives of this study were to identify the types of error in writing an analytical exposition text and to find out the source of error in writing an analytical exposition text. There were four types of errors, namely omission, addition, misformation and misordering. There were two types of source of errors, namely interlingual transfer and intralingual transfer. This study used descriptive qualitative. The instrument of this study was writing test. The subject of this study was the students of SMK Swasta Jambi Medan. The techniques of analyzing the data namely data collection, identification and classification. The writer applied the theory of Dulay for the types of error, namely omission error 52%, addition error 10%, misformation error 34% and misordering error 4%. For the source of errors the writer applied the theory of Brown, namely interlingual transfer 20% and intralingual transfer 80%.
