An Error Analysis of The punctuation in students’ Writing at Second Grade Students of SMK Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan
Abstract
This thesis about error analysis of the punctuation in students’ writing. The objective of the study was to find out the types of error punctuation in students’ writing at second grade students of SMK Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan. The study used qualitative research method. Finally , the result of the study showed there were four types error found in the students’ writing test namely Error of Omission, Error of Addition, Error of Misformation, Miss of Misordering. The writer analyzed the data by made table list of the students’ errors, classifying the students’ error, and calculating the percentage of the students’ error with P F/N x 100%. The result of this study were 520 error of the punctuation in students’ writing. 302 error of omission i.e 58,08%, 128 error of addition i.e 24,61%, 78 error of misformation i.e 15%, and 12 error of misordering i.e 2,31%. The students made the error because the students didn’t understand and still confused when they were written the punctuation. This thesis is suggested for the students are expected to be more aware of what errors they are mostly produce, and these parts of punctuation as well. And also for the teachers as source of valuable knowledge and information of students’ error in using the punctuation in students’ writing.
