Improving Students’ Vocabulary Mastery by Using Quizlet Application as Media at Eight Grade of Smp Negeri 2 Percut Sei Tuan.
Abstract
This study is attempts to improve students’ vocabulary mastery by using Quizlet application media. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject in this research was class VIII-10 SMP NEGERI 2 Percut Sei Tuan which consisted of 30 students. The research was conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisted of two meetings. The instrument for collecting data were quantitative data which is taken from students’ vocabulary test and qualitative data which is taken from observation sheet, questionnaire sheet and diary notes. The data of the students’ score is increases from the pre-test cycle I to post test cycle II. On the pre-test, the mean of the students is 40,33while the mean of post-test cycle I is 65,83 and the mean of post-test cycle II is 84,83. In line with the data, it is found that there is an improvement of students’ vocabulary mastery by using Quizlet application media. Based on observation sheet, the media was not successful in cycle I because the students need more time to adapt with the media. In cycle II, students could use media easily. Based on questionnaire sheet it was found that the students were active and enthusiastic in learning vocabulary by using Quizlet application media. From 10 statements in questionnaire in cycle I, 2 students were disagreed with the statements. In cycle II all the students were agree. Diary notes in cycle I show some students were still confused about the media and they got low score. Diary notes in cycle II show improvement at the scores and motivation.
