IMPROVING READING SKILL THROUGH RECIPROCAL TEACHING TECHNIQUE OF NINE GRADE STUDENTS OF SMP N 1 LABUHAN DELI
Abstract
This study deal with improving reading skills through reciprocal teaching technique. This study is intended to find out whether reciprocal teaching technique can imrpoving significantly students reading skills. Reciprocal teaching are very important in communicative Language Teaching (CLT) because they give students an opportunity to practice communicating in different social context in different social rules. Reciprocal teaching can be set up so that they are structured in a less structured way. This study conducted by using Class Action Research. The sample of the study was nine grade students of SMP N 1 Labuhan Deli. The sample of the study is the students IX 1 consisting 29 students. the technique of the analysis are quantitative and qualitative data the instrument used in this study was reading test, and the qualitative data is are diary notes, observation sheet and interview. The result of the Pre-test and the post-test had been done. In the pre-test there are one student who got score over 75 and in the percentage is 58%. in the post test of cycle I there are eleven students who got scores over 75 and in the percentage 65.51%. in the post test of cycle II there are twenty six students who got scores over 75 and in the percentage 89.65%. based on the result that shows the significant improvement rise up to 89.65% by using reciprocal teaching technique. Based on the data which had been analyzed. It can be concluded that there was significant improvement of students reading skills through reciprocal teaching technique.
Suggestion: for the another researchers who want to develop all information and knowledge and from those who have interest in doing research related to reciprocal teaching technique to make a researcher in another perspective.
