The Effect of Communicative Language Teaching Method in Teaching Speaking of Students’ Intonation at First Grade of SMK N 5 Medan
Abstract
This study is generally attempted to find the effectivenes of communicative language teaching method on teaching speaking of students’ intonation for the first grade of SMK N 5 Medan academic year 2018/2019. To know whether this technique effective or not, the writer used pre-experimental study applied in X TPM 2 class. The study had been done in six meetings that were designed; first meeting was for pre-test, 4 meetings were for treatments, and the last meeting was for post-test.
As the quantitative method, the writer analyzed the data by using t-test. The result showed that there was significant difference on the students’ intonation (falling and rising intonation) taught with Communicative Language Teaching. The students’ mean of pre-test’s score of experimental class was 51.4. Then in the post-test, the mean score of experimental class was 81.6. In other words, communicative language teaching method is effective in teaching intonation (falling and rising intonation) for the first grade of advocational school students.
