    Improving Students’ Achievement by Using Round Table Technique in Writing Procedure Text at SMP Swasta Santo Thomas 5 Lawe Bekung

    Abstract
    The objective of this thesis is to find out whether round table technique can improve students’ writing skill. This thesis was conducted by using Classroom Action Reseach. The subject of this research is eight grade of SMP Swasta Santo Thomas-5 Lawe Bekung. There are two kinds of data collected during the reasearch, quantitative data and qualitative data. The instrument for collecting the quantitative data is writing test. Based on quantitative data it is found that the students’ writing skill by using round table improved from pre-test to cycle I and cycle II. It can be seen from students’ mean of students’ score and percentage of students. The mean of students’ score and percentage for pre-test is 52,3 (5%) and for cycle I is 62,45 (30%) and for cycle II is 75,05 (70%). The students’ can improve their writing skill by use using round table. The use ofround tableto enhances the students critical thinking skill. The conclusion is there is a significant improvement on students in writing procedure text and increase their knowledge in writing after using round table in class VIII-B SMP Swasta Santo Thomas-5 Lawe Bekung. Especially for English teacher,round table can help teacher to make students to be more interested, active and enthusiastic when teaching English writing.
