    Abstract
    This study was about an error analysis on making tag question in core system tense made by the 2nd grade students. The objective of the study is to find out the types of error and to find the dominant types of error. This study used descriptive qualitative research. The subject of this study is the2nd grade students of SMA SwastaHosana. The object of this study is students’ error. The techniques for collecting the data is data collection, data identification, and dataclassification. The types of error classified based on Dulay’s Theory. The result of this study showed that there were many errors that made by the 2nd grade students on making tag question in core system tense, namely, omission, addition, misformation, and misordering. Simple Present Tense is 42%, Present Progressive Tense is 28%, Simple Past Tense is 58%, Simple Future Tense is 23%, Present Perfect Tense is 45.5%. The dominant error that students made in writing tag question of the core system tense is misformation in simple past tense.
