    THE TRANSLATION METHOD WITH THE HELP OF MACHINE TRANSLATION ON AKU PENGGERAK MIMPI’S FILM TRANSLATED BY STUDENTS AT SMA SWASTA GKPI PADANG BULAN MEDAN

    Abstract
    Translation is the process of transferring messages written in the source language into the target language. This study aims to determine the most dominant type of translation method using machine translation and the difficulties faced by students in translating the film Aku Penggerak Mimp’s using Machine Translation. researchers used a qualitative research design. The source of the data is taken from the summary of the film Aku Penggerak Mimpi’s and Questionnaires. The population in this study were students of class XI Mia SMA Swasta GKPI Padang Bulan Medan, the sample in this study amounted to 20 students. the writer found that only six types of translation method exist in the summary students of Aku Penggerak Mimpi's Film with the Help of Machine Translation. word for word translation 13 sentences (7.8%), literal translation114 sentences (68.8%), faithful translation9 sentences (5.4%), semantic translation 13 sentences (7.8%), idiomatic translation 13 sentences (7 ,8%) and communicative 4 sentences (2.4%). So, the most dominant types contained in the student summary in translating summary of Aku Penggerak Mimpi's Film with the help of Machine Translation at SMA Swasta GKPI Padang Bulan Medan is Literal Translation 114 sentences with percentage (68.8%). And to find the difficulties faced by the students, the writer uses linguistic factors, this study indicates that all students of class XI face difficulties in translating using machine translation. based on questionnaires filled in by students there are several things that make students difficult including: Adjusting sentence patterns, multiple words and meaning word arrangement and translating phrases.
