    THE RELATIONSHIP OF SENTENCES STRUCTURE MASTERY WITH THE ABILITY OF WRITING EKSPOSITION TEXTS FOR STUDENTS OF CLASS VIII OF SMP NEGERI 14 MEDAN IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2022/2023

    Abstract
    The purpose of this research is to find out the relationship between understanding sentence structure and the ability to write exsposition texts for SMP Negeri 14 Medan Classes in the 2022/2023 academic year. Knowing mastery of sentence structure can be one way to improve the ability to write exponential texts. The type of research in this research is quantitative descriptive with correlational design. It describes the level of relationshipbetween sentence structure recognition and exponential text writing skills. The population in this research is all students of class VIII with a total of 174. The sampling technique used was the cluster sampling technique. The technique by randomizing class groups. Then the selected class is the sample VIII-D as many as 29 students. Prior to testing the hypothesis, thedescriptive data was first carried out with the requirements of the analysis, namely to use the hypothesis proposed, the formula for correlation Product Moment of significance was 5%. The results of the study obtained an average score for mastery of sentence sructure, namely 71,89 with a standard deviation of 12,77 and for the average value of the ability to write exposition text, namely 70,58 with a standard deviation of 24,90. The results prerequisite test data for mastery of sentence structure and ability to write text exposition states that the samples are normally distributed. From the results of calculations consulted with r table at a significant level of 5% with N = 29, namely 0,961>0,367, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. This means that there is a relationship between mastery of sentence structure and the ability to write expository texts for Grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 14 Medan in the 2022/2023 academic year.
