| dc.description.abstract | This thesis aims to analyze the Differences Diphthong between Joe Biden and Boris Johnson in pronouncing diphthong through speech. The writer determines two problem formulations those are; what the types of diphthong are found in the Joe Biden and Boris Johnson speech, and what are the differences in the pronunciation of diphthong made by Joe Biden and Boris Johnson. The writer used qualitative method in this thesis. Finally, the writer collected 19 data from Boris Johnson’s speech and 20 data by Joe Biden’s speech and found 2 types of diphthong consisting centering diphthong and closing diphthong. In the result, the writer found 15 data by Joe Biden in diphthong [eɪ] is 5 data, diphthong [aɪ] is 6 data, diphthong [aʊ] is 3 data, diphthong [әʊ] is 1 data. Besides, Boris Johnson speech in diphthong [eɪ] is 5 data, diphthong [aɪ] is 2 data, diphthong [aʊ] is 3 data, diphthong [әʊ] is 3 data. From the study above it is known that Joe Biden and Boris Johnson are closing diphthongs are dominated. | en_US |
