dc.description.abstractThis study deals with the effect of brainstorming technique on students’s achievement in reading comprehension of the second grade in SMK Negeri 1 PercutSei Tuan. This study aimed to see the result of students’ achievement in reading comprehension with applying brainstorming technique. The objective of this study is to find out whether the brainstorming technique significantly affects on students’ achievement in reading comprehension of the second grade in SMK N1 PercutSei Tuan. The population of the study was the second grade student of SMK N 1 PercutSei Tuan on 2015/2016 with the total number is 420 students. Two classes were taken as the sample. They wasXI TKJ 2 and XI TKR 1. The experimental group (XI TKR 1) was taught by using brainstorming technique while the control group ( XITKJ 2) was taught by using conventional technique.The instrument of collecting data was multiplechoice test. The data were analyzed by using t-test. Based on the data, it was found that the students’ score improved from pre-test to post-test in experimental class. The result show that t-observed is higher that t-table value (4.54> 1.671) at the level significance 0,05 and the degree of freedom is 58. Therefore, it can be concluded that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Based on the research result, there is a significant effect of using brainstorming Technique onstudents’ achievement in reading comprehension.en_US
