dc.description.abstractThis study deals with the effect of improvisation technique on speaking ability of the eleventh grade students of SMK Negeri 1 PercutSei Tuan. This study aimed to see the result of students’ speaking ability with applying improvisation technique. The objective of this study is to find out whether the improvisation technique significantly affects on students’ speaking ability. The population of this study was the eleventh grade of SMK Negeri 1 PercutSei Tuan on 2015/2016 with total number of the students with the total number is 420 students. Two classes were taken as the sample. They wasXI LAS and XI RPL 1. The experimental group (XI RPL 1) was taught by using improvisation technique while the control group (XI LAS) was taught by using conventional way. The instrument of collecting data was speaking test and recorder. The data were analyzed by using t-test. Based on the data, it was found that the students’ score improved from pre-test to post-test in experimental class. The result show that t-observed is higher that t-table value (2.73 >2.021) at the level significance 0,05 and the degree of freedom is 38. Therefore, it can be concluded that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Based on the research result, there is a significant effect of using Improvisation Technique on speaking ability.en_US
