dc.description.abstractThe differences grammar system between English and Indonesian may result in translation changes. Therefore, grammatical equivalence in translating the two languages is very important to achieve closest meaning. The objective of study is to achieve the kinds of errors and dominant error of grammatical equivalence made by the students in translating Putri Tidur text into English. The study is limited only on two grammatical categories namely person and tenses.The data is collected by giving test for 20 respondents and the data was analyzed by using descriptive qualitative method. The participants of this study are 20 students. They are taken from the Eleventh grade students especially XI IPA1 of SMAS Bina Siswa.The result of the study showed that there are 317 errors which were made by the students in translating Putri Tidur text into English that are classified into four types. They are omission errors (30 or 9.46% of the total number of errors), misformation errors (190 or 59.94% of the total number of errors), misordering errors (57 or 17.98% of the total number of errors), and addition errors (40 or 12.62% of the total number of errors). From the four types of error, misformation errors have the highest number of errors.en_US
