dc.description.abstract | This thesis is about the effect of using wordscapes application on students’ vocabulary mastery at the eighth grade of SMP GKPI Padang Bulan. The objective of this thesis is to find out the effect of using wordscapes application on students’ vocabulary mastery at the eighth grade of SMP GKPI Padang Bulan. The research design for this thesis was true experimental quantitative and was completed at the eighth grade of SMP GKPI Padang Bulan, Medan, North Sumatera. The population of the study is the eighth grade of SMP GKPI Padang Bulan which has total students of 50 students and 40 of the students are taken as sample. The sample is divided into two groups which are experimental group and control group and were taught by using different methods. Experimental class were taught using wordscapes application while the control group were taught by using without wordscapes or by using conventional method. The experimental group consisted of 20 students and control group consisted of 20 students. The data of this thesis were taken from vocabulary test in the form of filling the blanks (5 questions) and completing the wordscapes (15 questions). The test was given in pre-test and post-test for experimental group and control group. The results of this study showed that the mean score of experimental groups in pre-test was 59,75 and post-test was 76,75. Meanwhile the mean score of control group in pre-test was 58,5 and post-test was 69,25. The result of testing hypothesis showed that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected because tcount > ttable = 2,63 > 1,686 (5%). It means that Wordscapes Application is recommended in students’ vocabulary mastery at the the eighth grade of of Junior High School because it is above of the standard score or KKM (70). | en_US |
