dc.description.abstract | The translation is an attempt to transfer in one language in the form of a statement or written message to recreate the statement or message in another language. The aim of this study is to find out the students difficulties and translation error in argumentation text from Indonesian to English. This research was conducted by using descriptive qualitative research. The sample of this reasearh is the third semester students majoring in English of Nommensen HKBP University. The class consists on 10 students. The source of data for this research will be from the results of the translation test of argumentation text from Indonesian to English and conducting interview with several students. The result of this study in the difficulties, the researcher found linguistic (8) and non- linguistic factors (5), namely limited vocabulary, grammatical limitations in translating Indonesian into English, difficulty translating cultural idiomatic phrases, difficulty placing words in the target language, difficulty finding/understanding meaning, and difficulty translating long sentences, and the result of this study shown that there are three types of errors such as (2) omission, (4) misordering, (7) misinformation. It can be concluded that third-semester students still find errors and difficulties in the process of translating argumentative text from Indonesian to English. From this research, the researcher suggest that students provide more practice in translation activities, so that students can overcome the difficulties that the students make a good translation without error and difficulties | en_US |
