dc.description.abstractThe objectives of this study were: 1). To find out the types of errors of using preposition in writing recount text made by ninth grade students of SMP N 1 ronggurnihuta, 2). To find out the dominant type of error of using preposition in writing recount text made by the ninth grade students of SMP N 1 Ronggurnihuta. This research used descriptive qualitative. The subjects of this research student‟s ninth grade of SMP N 1 Ronggurnihuta from class 9-2 consist of 15 students. The theory of error analysis based on the surface strategy taxonomy applied by Dulay, 1982. Namely: omission, addition, misformation and misordering. From the data analysis, there were two types of errors on the use of preposition in their recount text, those were (1). Omission (4.55%) and (2). Misformation (95.45%), then for the dominant types of errors on the use of preposition that made by the ninth grade students of SMP N 1 Ronggurnihuta on their recount text was error of misformation with 42 errors (94.45%).en_US
