dc.description.abstractThe objective of this research was to find out the effect of using Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) Techniqueon students in teaching reading comprehension. This research was conducted at SMP Swasta RK Bintang Samosir Palipi, Kecamatan Palipi, Kabupaten Samosir. The population of this research was the VIII grade students of the academic year 2021/2022. There were 2 classes consisting 15 students. The sample consisted of 30 students were taken by using random sampling technique. The sample was divided into 2 classes, the experimental group which consisted of 15 students (VIII-I) taught using Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) Technique and the Control Group consisted of 15 students (VIII-II) by usingConventional Learning. The instrument of collecting the data was a reading test. Each group was given a pre-test, treatment and post-test. The result of this research showed that t-observed (34,71) was higher than t-table (16839) and degree of freedom (df) was 48. The final hypothesis showed that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. It means that there was a significant the effect of using Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) Technique in Teaching Reading Comprehension for Student.en_US
