dc.description.abstractThis research aimed to find out speech disfluency made by the host and the guest stars on Ini Talk Show Net TV represented by the transcript of the talk show. Disfluency often happens in spontaneous speech. The theory supporting this thesis is a theory proposed by Gleason and Ratner. The analysis is focused on the types of speech disfluency which are silent pause, filled pause, repetitions, and false start. The objective of the study are (1) To identify the types of speech disfluency found in the talkshow, (2) To find out the dominant type of speech disfluency, (3) To find out the causes of speech disfluency made by the speakers on the talk show. This thesis applied Descriptive qualitative by Meleong. The steps passed in this analysis are collecting the data by downloading the video of the talk show, transcribing the data, identifying the speech disfluency, classifying the speech disfluency, calculating the dominant type of speech disfluency, and concluding the analysis. The result of the analysis is found that the total number of speech disfluency made by the speakers is 102. Repetitions occur 38 times i.e.37.2%, silent pause 35 times i.e.34.3%, Filled pause 26 times i.e.25.4%, and the false start 3 times i.e.2.9%. It show that Repetitions is more dominant than the other types. The causes of speech disfluency are because of cognitive difficulty. The speakers take longer to produce the word of the sentence for an abstract than for a concrete topic. The speakers make speech disfluency as a result of their difficulty in finding just the right word.Then, based on the result of this study it is suggested to the next researcher to use this method, and use the findings as the basic to conduct other researche design.en_US
