| dc.description.abstract | In this research, the researcher focused on the types of translation strategies used by students in SMA Gajah Mada Medan in translating the article. It is to describe kind of translation strategies and translation strategies dominantly are applied by the student in article of the Drama and Theatre. The design of this study was a descriptive qualitative research. The instruments of this research were the student as the main instrument and data sheet. The researcher collected data through steps by analysis the student’s paper in translating English article of The Drama and Theatre into Indonesia. The researcher analyzed the data by classifying the article, identifying the translation strategies that are applied in translating the article of The Drama and theatre, and analyzing the text translation with its translation strategies. Types of translation strategies is translation by a more general word, translation by a neutral/less expressive word, translation by cultural substitution, translation using a loan word plus explanation, translation by paraphrase using a related word, translation by paraphrase using unrelated word, translation by omission, and translation by illustration. Translation by a more general word is dominantly applied by the student in translating the article of The Drama and Theatre because translation by a more general word has 12 cases (20.68%) It is the highest position in the translation strategies. | en_US |
