dc.description.abstractThis research aims to find out translation techniques are used by second grade students of SMK Kesehatan Wirahusada Medan to translating argumentative texts from English to Indonesian. The research design of this study is descriptive qualitative. The second grade students in SMK Kesehatan Wirahusada Medan were chosen as the sample of this study with a total number of 20 students. The translation test proved in form of argumentative text. The data of this research is students‟ translation. The result of this research shown that there were 211 data found from the students‟ translation, those data were analyzed and found there were 8 translation technique used by students in translating the argumentative. The total number of Literal Translation are 121 data which reach 57,35%, then followed by Linguistic compression with 39 data which reach 18,50%, Borrowing with 15 data which reach 7,11%, Adaptation with 14 data which reach 6,63%, Amplification with 9 data which reach 4,26%, Calque with 7 data which reach 3,31%, , Transposition with 4 which reach data 1,90%, Linguistic Amplification with 2 data which reach 0,94%.Based on the finding, it can be said that the translation technique mastered by students are very small.en_US
