dc.description.abstractSpeech is one of the most important things in doing communication. It contains not only meaningful information but also instruction for someone to do something. This research tried to analyze about rhetoric appeals in Jokowidodo’s speech . The aim of this study is to describe the types of rhetoric appeals and the most dominant types in the rhetoric appeals from president Joko Widodo about Covid-19. The type of this research is descriptive qualitative method. So, the writer used documentation method to collect the data. The data are the type from rhetoric appeals containing which are found from President Joko Widodo’s speeches. The researcher uses Aristotle's theory (1954) to classify the use of rhetorical appeal based on the types of ethos, pathos and logos used by Joko Widodo in his speech. From the analysis of the data, the researcher finds three types of rhetoric appeals based on Aristotle's theory. There are 47 data from by 2 speeches from president Joko Widodo about Covid-19 with the frequencies as follow : ethos 31,91%, pathos 36,18% and logos 31,91% respectively.. The most dominant type of rhetoric appeals Finally, the found showed almost all types of rhetoric appeal contained pathos and requests from president Joko Widodo to handle the pandemic Covid-19 stay alert and follow the health protocols that have been set.en_US
