dc.description.abstractThis study is aimed to find out the improving students’ writing procedure text by using whatsApp application at nine grade in SMP N 1 Pangaribuan during pandemic covid-19. The writer used classroom action research to achieve the aim. The subject of this study 20 students. This study was used two cycles that contains of four steps namely planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. This study showed that there was an improvement on the students writing, it can be seen from the mean score of pre-test to post-test cycle I and II. In the pre-test, the mean score of students writing was 68,95 and the students who could passed the KKM was only 15%. Then, the students mean score was increased after applying whatsApp application. It can be seen from the mean score of post-test cycle I which reach 74,8 and the students who could passed the KKM was increased 55%. To get more significant improvement the cycle was continued. In the second cycle the students mean score of writing finally reached 83,65 and the students who could passed KKM was 90%. From the data of the student's scores, it can be said that using of WhatsApp application as media was successfully improved students writing in procedure text, a score of the students was higher than before. Finally, the research of this study showed that implementation of the use of the WhatsApp application as a learning media to teach writing skills could improve students’ writing in procedure text that was indicated by their improvement of each test result.en_US
