dc.description.abstractSpeech Function is a language to communicate, express feelings or ideas and aim to find out information that will be delivered to other people. In addition, language was used in teaching learning process in classroom. Based on the SFL theory, language is used by people to fulfill the function of language as interpersonal meaning and interpersonal meaning which involves the speaker's role in speech function. In this study, Speech function has four types that are found in utterances between teacher and students in classroom interaction on Truman Hutapea Channel YouTube. This research conducted in a qualitative research design. The instrument of collecting the data used observation and video recording supported research as it provides a visual representation of what is happening. This research discussed that the types of speech function found in teacher and student’s utterances are statement, question, command, and offer. The result showed that the researcher found percentage teacher utterances Statement 53 (56.4%), Question 24 (25.5%), Command 15 (15.5%), and Offer 2 (2.1%). The percentage students utterances Statement 23 (92%), Question 1 (4%), Command 1 (4%). The most dominant type of speech function used by teacher is Statement (56.4%) and student’s is Statement (92%).en_US
