CODE SWITCHING AND CODE MIXING AS FOUND IN POLITICAL COMMENTARY ON YOUTUBE OF GENERAL ELECTION 2019

Abstract

The study deals with the study on the code switching and code mixing as found in political commentary on youtube of general election 2019. this research was conducted by using descriptive qualitative research. the use of code switching and code mixing in society it has been common. it happens in the one of the phenomenon and famous in political commentary on youtube of general election 2019. therefore, this research focuses on code switching and code mixing that emerges on haris azhar critical jokowi and prabowo relate on the second debate capres 2019 in indonesia lawyer club. the researcher only analyzes code-switching and code-mixing. the objective of this research was to find out code switching and code mixing use by political commentary by youtube. the instrument of collecting data is observation. The data of this research is commentary in youtuber. The data is limited only in code switching and code mixing. There are 100 people as the subject that the researcher found. The sources of data are taken writer’s comment youtube where the writer has to focuses one topic about general election 2019. Commentary by youtube users that will be analyzed by writers, and the object of this research will be conduct to political commentay as found by youtube on general election 2019. The data is conversation especially commentarry in youtube. Code switching by Romaine divided into three types, namely tag switching, inter-sentential switching and intra- sentential switching. code mixing suwito divided into six types: insertion of word, insertion of phrase, insertion of hybrid, insertion of word reduplication, insertion of idiom and insertion of clause. The result after analyzing the video, there were the totally of data code switching are Inter-sentential Switching there are 7 data and Inter-sentential Switching there are 5 data. And the totally of code mixing are insertion of word there are 82 data, insertion of hybrid of 3 data, insertion of reduplication is 1 data, and the insertion of idiom are 2 data. In the types of code mixing, the highest type was insertion of words of code mixing and the lowest type was insertion of reduplication. While, in the levels of code mixing, the dominant level was insertion of words.
