dc.description.abstract | This study deals with Student’s English Book at IX grade. It is aimed to describe the type of speech function used in Student’s English Book focus in conversation material, to find out the most dominant type used in Student’s English book with using Halliday’s Theory . This research begun with explanation about language with using a few of theory from the researcher. Language is something that has been spoken by a particular society. Speech Function refers to a function performed a verbal interaction or conversation which specifies his or her role. The research of this thesis was carried by using descriptive qualitative. From the book analysis the researcher found different total of sentence of conversation and percentage. The total sentence from the conversation are 191 sentences which classified into four types of speech function. From the analysis the researcher found the result ; There are 141 sentences of statement (73.8%). Followed by Question 41 sentences (21.46), Offer 7 (3.6%) and the last Command 1 sentence (0.52%). The most dominant speech function used in student’s book focus in conversation material at IX grade is statement with 141 sentences (73.8%). | en_US |
