dc.description.abstract | This study aims to analyze of translation procedure used by students in translating narrative text. The subject of this study was X Keperawatan 1 students of SMK Kesehatan Imelda Medan. There are 15 students as sample in this class. This study used qualitative research. The problem of this study was “what translation procedures are used by the tenth grade students in translating narrative text?”. The data was a text that the students translated into indonesia. The researcher collected data through steps by analyzed the students paper in translation a text into indonesia. Finally the result of this study showed that there are eight types used by the students in translating a narrative text, namely literal translation (77,52%), synonymy (1,40%), shift/transposition (0,85%), modulation (085%), compensation (1,40%), couplets, triplets and quadruplets (12,64%), reduction and expansion (4,49%), paraphrase (0,85%). And the most dominant translation types used by students are literal translation (77,52%). Based on the result of the study, the writer only found eight types from eighteen types that should be based on Peter Newmark’s theory. The writer suggest that the teacher keep their attention in teaching the students about translation and improve the students vocabulary so that they can use the good english in translating a text into indonesia as well in translating text. | en_US |
