dc.description.abstractThe aim of this research is to describe the implementation of scientific approach in teaching writing by English teacher at SMP Negeri 1Pangaribuan. In collecting data about the implementation of scientific approach by the English teacher, researcher conducted observation. The data about the teacher’s difficulties was achieved by conducting interview. The subject of this research was English teacher of IX grade at SMP Negeri 1 Pangaribuan. The data achieved by observing and interviewing the teacher about the implementation of scientific approach used by English teacher in teaching writing. The research finding is the implementation of scientific approach in teaching writing. In scientific approach, the teacher used five phases, those are observing, questioning, experimenting, associating, and communicating. The finding showed that the teachers implemented scientific approach in 5 phases activities those are, (1) observation, in the observation, the teacher ordered some picture in around them, (2) questioning, in questioning there was activity of asking and answering about the observed objects. (3) In the experimenting the teachers guided the student to think what the text contains and discuss the text about definition, generic structure, purpose and language feature from the text. (4) In associating the teacher ask the students to analyzed the data by forming categories and relationship with them and the last (5) communicating, in communicating the teacher ask them to create of descriptive text with the things or the place who have their visited. Based on the interview the researcher found the problem of the teacher when implementing of scientific approach. (1) In observation the problem of teacher in tools (2) In questioning the teacher make the difficulties question so that’s student can’t think logically. (3) In experimenting the teacher problem is in minim of creativity and innovation of student. (4) The problem of teacher in associating is their difficult to explain the material to student cause of their minim of creativity or their not interest to learn. (5) Communicating the teacher difficult to ask the student to do presentation the task. Based on the interviewing the researcher conclude that, the English teacher must creative and active to implementation of scientific approach so that the student will be active and interested in learning process.en_US
