dc.description.abstract | This thesis is a study about an analysis of students writing dangling modifiers in writing recount text at first grade students of SMA Mardi Lestari Medan. The objectives of the study are to identify type of dangling modifiers and the most dominant type of dangling modifiers made by the students in their writing recount text at first grade students of SMA Mardi Lestari Medan. The study uses descriptive qualitative as the research design. The subject of this study is the first grade students of SMA Mardi Lestari Medan and the students in X-IPA and X-IPS is as the object of this study. Finally, the result of the study shows there are three types of writing dangling modifiers found in writing recount text of the first grade students of SMA Mardi Lestari Medan, namely writing dangling verbal phrases, writing dangling prepositional phrases and writing dangling elliptical. The most dominant type of dangling modifiers from the other types of dangling modifiers is writing dangling prepositional phrases with 17 writing dangling modifiers, in the second place is writing dangling verbal phrases with 16 writing dangling modifiers, then in the last place is writing dangling elliptical clauses with 10 writing dangling modifiers. The students made dangling modifiers in writing recount text because the students the students do not understand of many usage and structural of placement modifiers. The students do not understand to put modifying words, phrases, clauses and the headword does not appear in the sentence. This thesis is suggested for the students in English Department and also for English teacher as source of valuable knowledge and information of students writing dangling modifiers in writing recount text. | en_US |
