dc.description.abstractThis study deals to know The Effect of Skimming and Scanning Technique on Students’ Reading Comprehension in Narrative text for XI Grade Students of Senior High School. This study aimed to see the result of students’ achievement in reading narrative text with applying Skimming and Scanning. The objective of this study is to find out whether the Skimming and Scanning significantly affect on students’ reading narrative text of the XI grade students of Senior high school. The population of the study was the XI grade students of SMAS Katolik Budi Murni 3 Medan on 2019/2020 with the total number is 60 students. Two classes were taken as the sample. They were XI MIA-1 and XI MIA-2 The experimental group was taught by using Skimming and Scanning Technique while the control group (XI MIA-2) was taught by using conventional method. The instrument of collecting data was multiple choice test. The data were analyzed by using t-test. Based on the data, it was found that the students’ score improved from pre-test to post-test in experimental class. The result show that t-observed is higher that t-table value(4.4> 1.671) at the level significance 0.05 and the degree of freedom is 58. Therefore, it can be concluded that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Based on the research result, there is a significant effect of using Skimming and Scanning technique in Reading Comprehension in Narrative text for XI Grade Students at Senior high school.en_US
