dc.description.abstractThis thesis deals with Figurative meaning as found in the script of Boru Panggoaran movie. The objectives of this study are to find out the types of figurative meaning, most dominantly of figurative meaning and how figurative meaning used in the the script of Boru Panggoaran movie. The descriptive-qualitative was used in the analysis of the figurative meaning. The data were collected from the Boru Panggoaran movie by transcribing them. The data of this study is derived from identify and classify the types of figurative meaning of the transcript in Boru Panggoaran movie that contains of figurative meaning. The result showed that there were 36 sentences. The findings indicated that the script of Boru Panggoaran movie applied five types of Figurative language based on Herbert L Colston : Metaphor, Verbal Irony, Hyperbole, Idioms, and Indirect Request. The total calculations of Figurative language in each type are Metaphor (11), Verbal Irony (5), Hyperbole (10), Idioms (5), Indirect Request (5). The dominant type of Figurative meaning in the script of Boru Panggoaran movie is Metaphor (11).en_US
