dc.description.abstractThe study deals with the study on the effect of using deductive approach to the students achievement in reading comprehension. This study used an experimental research quantitative design. The population of this study was grade IX students of SMP Negeri 2 Percut Sei Tuan with the total number of students was 50 as sample. Each class consists of 25 students. The students were devided into two groups, namely experimental and control group. The experimental group was taught by using deductive approach, while the control group was taught by using conventional method. The instrument used to collect the data was multiple choice tests which then divided into pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The result of the analysis showed that tobserved is higher than ttable (4,27> 1.677) at the level of significance 0,05 with the degree of freedom (df) is 48, It means that there is a significant effect of using Deductive Approach to the students’ achievement in reading comprehension.en_US
