dc.description.abstractThis study deals with analysis of Grammatical Cohesion of narrative text in students’ writing to find out the most dominant types of Grammatical Cohesion in writing narrative text. The objective of the study is to find out the most dominant types of grammatical cohesion in writing narrative text.Theresearch design which was used in this research is descriptive qualitative research. There were 30 students used as the object who came from grade XI IPA 1 of 2017/2018 academic year. The instrument of this research test namely writing test, writing narrative text. The students were assigned to write a narrative text. The techniques of collecting the data in this research were asking the students to write a narrative text and collecting students to find out the errors. The data were analyzed by collecting the data from students worksheet then checking the students worksheet to find out the errors. After that, identifying the students grammatical cohesion errors by underlining every error from the students writing test. Next, classifying the types of error based on the types of grammatical cohesion. After getting the result, the writer found that the students made the error of grammatical cohesion in reference dominantly. It could be seen from this data, where in the first position there is reference with 66%, then in the second position in conjunction with 17%. And it is followed by ellipsis with 9% is in the third position and the less is substitution with 8%.en_US
