| dc.description.abstract | This thesis focused on finding out the function and meanings of Slang words used at third year “ Six Semester” at HKBP Nommesen University Of Medan. This research was conducted with one Group it was Group B. They are the students of Group B English Department consist of 35 students but the researcher only uses 10 Students. The instrument of collecting the data was Recording. This research was done in English Department of HKBP Nommensen University Of Medan school year 2017/ 2018. The technique for analysis data is qualitative method, the writer uses theory of yule and patridge. In analayzing the data, the result show that the function of slang term can classified into the; for fun, to be creative, humor, to reduce the extensive seriousness of conversation, to be secretive for group identity and soladirity. And some of the meaning of slang are different with standard language. Although it usually found in the from standard language. It has different meaning in the spoken. It can be concluded that the using of slang words can be improve the students vocabulary in speaking skill. This research is expected to give better knowledge about slang language and improve the understanding about slang terms. And also expect the students are capable to develop slang research further to enrich knowledge about slang words since slang is widelyuse in english language nowdays. | en_US |
