dc.description.abstractThis thesis discussabout an error analysis of using apostrophe in recount text at second grade student at SMA RK Deli Murni Delitua. The objective of this study is to discover apostrophe’s errors and find out thedominant apostrophe’s errors used by the students of SMARk Deli Murni Delitua in writing recount text. The study used descriptive qualitative method as research design. The subject of the study was the second grade students of SMA RK Deli Murni Delitua consisting of 152 students and as the object of study is 38 students of XI MIA I. Finally, the result of the study shows there are three types of errors found of using apostrophe in writing recount text, namely; error in make word possessive, make contraction and make odd plurals. To get the frequency of each error, the writer calculate data with P F/N×100% .The dominat error is error in make word possessive with 25 errors (50%) in the second place is error in make odd plurals with 15 errors (30%) and in the last place is error in make contraction with 10 errors (20%). Student made that errors because they still diffucult to use apostrophe in recount text or past form.This thesis is suggested for the students in English Department and also English teachers as source of valuable knowledge and information of students’ apostrophe error in writing recount text.en_US
