dc.description.abstractExpressive speech acts are part of illocutionary acts which aim at an action that involves expressing the speaker's feelings or emotions. By using expressive speech acts, the speaker can build deeper relationships and strengthen interpersonal relationships with other people. This research aims to identify sub-types of teacher's expressive speech acts and determine the dominant sub-types of teacher's expressive speech acts. The research design in this research is descriptive qualitative research. The data in this research is the utterances of English teacher which contains sub-types expressive speech acts. The data source is from transcripts of teacher’s expressive speech acts during the English language learning activity in class VIII in the 2024/2025 academic year. The results of this study found that there are six sub-types of expressive speech acts found from 116 data. Then the most dominant sub-types of expressive speech acts are praise is 29 data (25%) and thank 29 data (25%).en_US
