The Effect of Using Student Team Achievement Division on Students' Ability to Write Essays at SMP Methodist 7 Medan
Abstract
Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) is a social-based learning in which there are small groups that train students to interact socially. This research aims to find out whether the STAD model teaching technique has a significant effect on Class IX students' ability to write essays at SMP Methodist 7 Medan. This research uses a quasi-experimental type of research with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. Design just looks at students' writing abilities before and after using the STAD Model. The research objects were 17 class IX students of SMP Methodist 7 Medan. The technique of Data collection was carried out by written test. The results of this research show that there is an effect of an STAD model teaching technique on the abilities of tenth-grade students to write essays at SMP Methodist 7 Medan. The data in this study is normally distributed 6,31. Based on data analysis using the t-test, it was obtained that ������������ = 6,31 in significance level �� = 5%, dk (n-1) = (17-1) = 16, so, ������������ = 1.33. Can be concluded that
������������ > ������������ ( 6,31 > 1.33 ). This means that ���� is rejected and ���� is accepted.
